Application: Hurston/Wright Award for College Writers

This entry form may be duplicated. Deadline: Submissions must be received between September 1, 2007 and November 15, 2007.

A separate application form must be completed for each submission. There is a $25 entry fee for each title submitted. Publishers will receive an invoice from the Hurston/Wright Foundation after the entry form(s) have been received and accepted. Please do not send your entry fee until you have been invoiced. Any books entered for the awards process by the publishers that are subsequently determined to be ineligible shall still be subject to the stated entry fee of $25 per title. Checks or money orders should payable out to The Hurston/Wright Foundation. All books submitted for consideration must have a publication date between January and December of the calendar year in which the application is being submitted.

Publisher and author agree that the decision of The Zora Neale Hurston/ Richard Wright Foundation and/or judges will be final as to all matters, including eligibility, timelines of submission, and compliance with these entry rules and those of the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award.
The Hurston/Wright Foundation shall have the permanent right in any and all media throughout the world and all radio, television, marketing, promotional, and publicity rights that the publisher and author may have in connection with their participation in the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award competition without further consent or payment. Publisher and author also release any claim either might have by virtue of their respective participation in the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award competition, for use of their respective photographs, names, likeness, voice or appearances in connection with the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award program.

Nominees will be announced in May. The Awards ceremony will be held November 2, 2007 at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Hurston/Wright staff, board, and advisory board members are ineligible for the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award.
